LGBTQIA+ Counseling
Being gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, questioning, intersex, asexual+ is normal and healthy.
It is not fringe or unusual and you do not need therapy because you identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, or asexual. Living in a world that does not often validate who you are or your experiences causes challenges and distress.
Living and working in environments that are aggressive and hostile towards who you are or erases your existence causes pain and discomfort.
Due to all of this, there are unique challenges and pressures that you encounter due to being part of the queer community.
Gay affirming counseling recognizes those challenges and also how your life and your psychological health blossoms when you are living an authentic life and living out your truth.
“I took a long time to come out because no one in my life was gay, or anything like that. I’m feeling so much better now that I can relax.”
— SEBASTIAN, Client
Maybe you’re ready to see a gay or transgender counselor, but you have some questions…
I’m concerned about the cost of LGBTQ Affirming therapy.
If you’re concerned about the cost of therapy, we encourage you to contact us to schedule a free, 20-minute consult. During the consult, we will discuss your needs, the cost of therapy, as well as ideas and resources to get you started on your journey. If cost remains an issue after our initial conversation, we can refer you to trans-affirming therapists in the area who offer counseling services at a reduced cost. In addition, we have guidance for submitting bills to your insurance for reimbursement here.
I want to go to a LGBTQ identified counselor but would prefer to see someone who takes my insurance.
At Arrive Therapy, we have extensive training in LGBTQ counseling and trans-affirming approaches—in fact, most of our therapists identify as queer, gender queer, trans, or nonbinary. Because of this degree of experience and specialization, we’re confident that gender counseling at Arrive can get you much farther more quickly, potentially saving you time and frustration in the long run.

We do a lot more than LGBTQ affirming care.
We are founded with the belief that all people deserve the freedom to express their sexuality and gender how they choose. To that end, we provide a range of services to serve anyone of LGBTQ experience, and their friends, families and partners. You can find help for your gender questions, or support for your gender questioning teen, or a community of people going through your same struggles in groups, and you will always find every session grounded in a solid foundation of general mental health.

“I’m thrilled about having a gay therapist to chat with me about the issues I have at work and at home. And they help me with things unrelated to my sexuality, too. I'm very comfortable here, and feel welcome every time.”
